OVERLANDING FOR BEGINNERS - Meet the locals

When travelling overland, taking in the sights, enjoying the vastness of the country we travel through, learning the history, is all part of the adventure of overlanding. It is this amazing experience that keeps taking us back over and over again. Making this experience even more enriching is meeting the locals along the way. Their insight, stories and friendships has over the years added so much value to our  overlanding travels.

I have found local communities in remote or rural towns to be very welcoming. The best place to find them is where the locals congregate. Here in Australia it is in many cases the pub. Apart from meeting the locals, it is also a great experience to meet other travellers. You'd be surprised to find out, not all travellers are out there to take in the sights. I share some of my experience in this video.
